They are common on physical things such as height and width, but the same structure can describe countable features on digital objects, textual works, people, and timespans.\n\n## Required Shape\n\nA dimension structure includes:\n\n- `type`: required. Must be `Dimension`.\n- `value`: required numeric value.\n- `unit`: required `MeasurementUnit` reference.\n- `id`: optional URI identifying the dimension.\n- `_complete`: optional completeness signal. If an `id` URI has richer dereferenceable information, `_complete: false` must be present.\n\n## Recommended Fields\n\n- `_label`: developer-facing label.\n- `classified_as`: classifications following the `Type` structure, such as height, width, weight, duration, or word count.\n- `identified_by`: textual display form of the structured measurement, following the `Name` pattern.\n\n## Optional Fields\n\n- `upper_value_limit`: highest possible value for the dimension.\n- `lower_value_limit`: lowest possible value for the dimension.\n- `referred_to_by`: references to textual works about the dimension, or embedded statements about the dimension.\n- `assigned_by`: measurement activity following the `AttributeAssignment` pattern.\n\n## Common Incoming Relationships\n\n- `dimension`: used by Physical Object, Digital Object, Textual Work, Person, Set, and other endpoint records for measurable or countable features.\n- `duration`: used by `TimeSpan` structures when the dimension describes the duration of the actual timespan within the declared boundaries.\n\n## Meta Museum Notes\n\nMeta Museum already preserves dimension arrays on physical, textual, digital, and set records. Existing coverage keeps structured measurement data separate from display labels: `value`, `unit`, `classified_as`, `identified_by`, and textual statements remain available to consumers.
